Pocket Full Of Posiez - Panzy The Pirate - Limited Edition Art Doll by Queenie.

In March 2015, I posted about my stupidly cute Pocketful of Posiez Delilah Doll that I was lucky to win on Ebay.

If you want to read about her, you can find a link to my post here... Delilah.

Since then I've been looking out for the others in the series; it turns out the doll maker: Queenie only made three, the other being the very awesome looking Lylliona who looks like this...

https://www.deviantart.com/posiez/art/lyllionia-doll-44622896

Just now I was looking for a picture of her to add to this post and I discovered one for sale on Ebay, after 3 years of searching, I've finally found one come up for sale but of course there is a catch...

A bloody big catch, apart from the fact the listing is from 2015 -  The seller had her listed at a starting bid of $340.00 (£258.40)!

I've saved a few pictures from that post and I've noticed the differences on each box which I'd like to go into but I don't think here is really the post to do it on, so stay tuned for a Pocketful of Posiez collective box design post real soon, right now it's back to Panzy...

I spotted Panzy for sale on Amazon and had to snap her up, I love her crooked little mouth, her big eyes and the fat that she is a Pirate.... And who doesn't love a Pirate?!

Like my Delilah Doll, she comes in a beautifully decorated box that is tailored to suit her particular quirks...

The back of her box is interesting as it mentions other members of her "crew", Delilah, Prunella and Hortencia. it makes me wonder if they are the names of dolls which were planned to be included in this series... After all, at the time of her release in 2007, Delilah hadn't yet been produced, and wouldn't for another 5 years!

There is more evidence on the box that Delilah was in the works, as one of the side panels shows a picture of Delilah with the words "Coming Soon" ...

I guess it's pretty telling that on the side panels of Delilah's box there is no "Coming Soon" teaser.

Panzy is the second doll released in this series, but unlike the first - Lyllionia and third doll - Delilah her box does not state she is a Limited Edition Doll or show her number out of 1000.

She is however, a limited doll, but how large the run was I have no idea. Out of the three dolls she is the easiest to find as she is still available to buy on Amazon for not very much money.

I haven't yet taken her fully out of her box, just removed the outer shell so I could get a better look at her. She comes wearing a really cool pair of boots, which I think may be removable. The rest of her outfit is very cute too and she comes with a key around her neck and a little "Treasure Chest" style handbag which opens so she can stash her treasures inside.

She has a very Burtonesque look to her and with that red hair puts me in mind of The Queen of Hearts from his sadly abysmal take on Alice in Wonderland or should that be Underland?

Anyhoo, I have a plan to buy a second one of her and customise her to look more like The Queen of Hearts.

Watch this space, I guess...

Hugs,

☠ Maudlynne Macabre™ Beginner Collector Doll by Tonner ☠

http://www.tonnerdoll.com

How could I possibly resist those eyes?     Well the obvious answer is I couldn't!

About a month before Christmas I received an email from Tonner stating that this lovely just was on sale - even better than that they sent me an additional email with a code for money off shipping cost of dolls in stock, I had some gift money so I decided it was now or never...

The Tonner website  http://www.tonnerdoll.com/maudlynne-macabre/maudlynne-macabre-sale-now
has this little write up, about Maudlynne's personality traits...

Maudlynne Macabre

Our favorite 10 year old resides in a Victorian mansion in Upstate New York and favors dark chocolate, black cats, moonlight walks on lonely beaches, all nocturnal creatures and musty attics-particularly those frequented by her best friend (and ghost) Victoria and her side kick Edgar Allen, the talking Raven. Although generally shy, she aspires to have a career as a TV or internet clairvoyant, a role in which her modern Victorian Chic style will prevail.
Come, enter Maudlynne’s truly macabre world and prepare for some other-worldly adventures.

While Tonner Toys have added more information about the doll's background / concept., this image appears to have been taken directly from the back of her box and both Tonner and Tonner Toys have the dolls for sale on their websites...

http://tonnertoys.com/maudlynne-macabre/
As the image is so small; here's what it says...

"Maudlynne McCobb is very sensitive, shy and able to see spirits. Maudlynne was home-schooled for most of her life until her parents noticed her perculiarness and decided it was time for her to socialize a bit more with regular kids.

Age:10. Favourite colours: Black, Blue & Purple. Likes: Dark chocolate, walks along moonlight beaches, black cats, all nocturnal creatures & nice, musty attics. Lives: In a Victorian Mansion in a sleepy little town in Upstate New York. Style: Modern Victorian Chic. Ambition: TV clairvoyant. Best Friends: Victoria , the Ghost in the attic & Edgar Allan, the talking Raven."

I'm not sure why the box refers to her as having the surname McCobb - this could be a typo or it could even have been the prototype's original name that someone forgot when it come to reviewing  the blurb on the box design.

I have to say I'm not impressed by the blurb giving the impression that children who are homeschooled are in some way peculiar.

I removed my Son from mainstream education and home schooled him after the bullying he was dealing with on a daily basis became so bad I felt there was no alternative, maybe I'm being over sensitive...

Anyway here she is as pictured on the Tonner websites:

http://www.tonnerdoll.com
She's a big girl, standing around  15.25 inches and has 10 points of articulation - neck, knees, hips, torso (just under breast), shoulders, elbows.

While the lack of articulation in her wrists and ankles isn't that much of an issue and probably wouldn't matter for a child, as an adult collector who likes to be able to place my dolls in any number of poses I can't help wishing that she had movement in these areas.

Unlike most other dolls she doesn't have any articulation at the waist, surprisingly this really isn't noticeable when posing and doesn't affect her possibility at all.

It is of course very noticeable when the doll is undressed and then only because she has a long torso... well not really it is in proportion to the rest of her body but it looks long as unlike other dolls it isn't broken up by an articulated waist!

For an adult collector such as myself it would have been beneficial and greatly appreciated it she had of been designed with this additional point of articulation, but I'm mindful that she wasn't designed for collectors of my age group and she is such a stunning doll that it's not something that I really have a compliant about, it just would have been a nice addition.

http://www.tonnerdoll.com
Her hair is rooted and very thick so it's great for styling by little and big girls alike!

It's very long, silky and soft and is topped by a cute red ribbon headband which is secured to her head with those little plastic tie things.

Her face is sculpted by Robert Tonner and her facial features are painted on.

http://www.tonnerdoll.com

Her clothing is described on the site as being a Victorian Goth Chic Dress but I'd describe it as a mixture of styles.

Her maroon dress is made of a very soft fabric which shimmers a bright red when the lit hits it.

The white "bib" is made of a similar fabric and reacts the same to light.

Details had been added in black lace at the hemline, around the bib and sleeve cuffs, a deep blue ribbon around the waist and black ribbon around the neck - which ends in a bow.

The ribbon areas have been sewn directly onto the dress so are less fiddly for little hands and cannot get lost as they remain on the dress during removal.

http://www.tonnerdoll.com
In keeping with both the Victorian and Goth theme Maudlynne comes wearing a cute little pair of blue lace fingerless gloves.

These are made from a stretchy net type fabric which makes them easy to put on and take off. For a child however, it may prove fiddly as they have to thumb sewn separately and this has to be put in place first otherwise the fabric being so thin may rip.

http://www.tonnerdoll.com

Maudlynne's tights are made of thick t-shirt material and though easy to remove can be a little tiresome to put back on, this is due to her lack of ankle joints as her feet remain firmly facing forward the whole time.

Her Mary Jane style shoes are made of a squishy rubbery type plastic which has a slightly tacky feel to it.

They feel kind of flimsy but they are actually pretty robust so aren't likely to be ripped by constant removal and replacement.

An unfortunate side effect I have recently discovered about keeping Maudlynne displayed in her original outfit in her box when not in use is that the indigo dye used on her tights has stained her feet.

As I know a fix for this it's not that much of a big deal to me but for a child or someone who doesn't know how to fix it it could be a very big deal.

When Maudlynne was originally released she was priced at  $44.99 but has since been placed on sale for $34.99.

As far as I'm aware these dolls are still in stock on both the Tonner websites so if you'd like to get your hands on one there is still time!

Limited Edition Pocketful Of Posiez - Delilah Art Doll by Queenie.

Last year I was doing my usual nosing around Ebay with no particular doll in mind when I happened upon a listing for an adorable little person called a "Delilah Doll"...

The listing didn't really give much information and only included the photograph below, but that was enough for me to fall in love!

The seller wrote on the listing "A very cute, Gothic Lolita style Art Doll. Her head is cast in Vinyl with a plush body and pose-able arms and legs. She also comes with her Card and giant cupcake, with her edition number printed on the bottom of the box."

I placed my bid and went off to do some research on this little girl, I discovered that sadly there isn't much but what I did find was Queenie's website: www.pocketfullofposiez.com/ which had this cute little picture of her with some info' on the doll's features...

On that website I also found a picture of the prototype dated Feb 6 2012, I always like to see and compare prototypes with finished products, in this case the differences are minimal.

I also found this pic' which shows the gorgeous design on the back and right side of the box.

I was so pleased to win her and had a hard time waiting for her to arrive... Here's my cute little "Gothic Cupcake" Delilah by Queenie,

As this doll is limited to 1000 Worldwide, it comes with her edition number written at the bottom of the box so of course whilst admiring the box I just had to turn it over to see what number my girl is... turns out she's number 645...

As she is soft bodied she poses better sitting down. She didn't come with a stand so I'm not sure it she should of had one.

It would have to be a weird shape though, as her body is triangular and as I mentioned, soft bodied. She also isn't able to hold her own cupcake as her arms are not only short and handless, but they have the appearance of having been made using thick pipe cleaners...

While I like the rustic look this gives her, it does mean that if she does get hungry you will have to hold her cupcake and feed it to her yourself!

She really loves this seat as it's not only comfy but it also has arms she can rest her cupcake on!

Queenie has an Etsy Shop where she sells her artwork and jewellery - if you'd like to check it out, you can click this link: https://www.etsy.com/shop/posiez

I was having a nose about there earlier and I found this adorable pic' of  Delilah, seeing as mine are kind of blurry looking I thought I'd upload it as it's a close up of her face and sadly my pic's don't really do this little girl justice...

You can also get information on new releases etc on Queenie's facebook page...  deadlycutepocketfullofposiez

Well that's about it I guess unless I forgot they are still available to buy on the website -  if you're interested in owning your own little Goth Girl..

Anyhoo, the link's up there somewhere..,

I'm off to cuddle my reptilian babies now so until next time..

Take care,   :)

Sindy Flock Haired Tester Doll - aka - "The Old Bouffant Headbutt"!!

As this doll is a "Ghost Sindy" I thought she should be a bit Goth looking, but beyond that I really had no ideas of what to do with her, so she ended up becoming little miss experimental instead!

I had already started on her fringe but as the rest of her head was pretty wrecked and Andy aka Bouffant Headbut; a Flickr friend of mine had recently told me his secret - how he flocks his doll customs...

The two things began to gel together in my head and so poor "Ghost Sindy" became my flocking guinea pig, after all I reasoned if it goes wrong, it doesn't really matter as she was pretty knackered as she was so why not see if I could do the Bouffant Headbutt Style flocking on her, or as I like to call it "Give her the old Bouffant Headbut"!

And this is the result:

The corset top is from some stock pieces for Pullip that I bought a few years ago and had no idea what to do with ... I've coupled it with some leather look Little Big Eyes trousers that were left over after my "Alice" custom was finished,  which look fab on her and yay actually fitted perfectly!!

The first thing I tried before I'd even removed the hair was to "tidy up" her make up as the paint from her lips had bled somewhat and is quite distracting ... but after I repainted them, she looked like one of those old ladies who think they still have full lips and end up getting it on their teeth and halfway up their face!!

So I just removed it and left her without ...  now she looks  like she's gotten drunk and smeared it all over the place instead!

Hopefully one day I'll work out a "cure" for this, but to be honest I've gotten so used to her having smeared lipstick that I think it kind of suits her and goes with "her look" quite well!

After a while, I uploaded her picture to Flickr and was so surprised to get so many compliments on her as I was still thinking I should do something else to "finish her off", but after receiving invites to add her to doll groups and the amount of attention she was getting, I decided maybe I should leave her be, after all I could end up ruining her completely.

Now that she's been like this for several years I feel she really is "finished", I love the way she looks right down to her drunken lipstick smears!

☾ ☼ Emerald The Enchanting Witch - Aka "Endora". ☼ ☽

Adapted image, taken from top of the box - from an ebay listing

Emerald the Enchanting Witch was made in 1972 by Girl's World™ - a division of Milton Bradley Corporation, like Kenner Blythe, she was only produced for one year.

Most people recognise the company Milton Bradley as a creator of Board Games and sadly after their brief foray into the world of doll creation, this is what they decided to stick to and so they discontinued their line of Emerald the Enchanting Witch quite quickly after release.

This of course means that Emerald Witch Dolls are pretty hard to come by, more so as they now seem to be in great demand by collectors.

They do however come up for sale every so often on Ebay and other auction sites, but finding one in good condition or in one of her original outfits with her battery cover intact is rarer still and if you are lucky enough to find all those things in one doll, the chances are her eye mechanism no longer works, if however all these things do come together in one auction listing then, more than likely to get you involved in a long drawn up bidding war that will  end up costing you quite a bit of cash when it's over, but these dolls are super cute and if you fall under her spell and have the cash, she's worth the wait or if you've got it the extra cash!

So, what's the appeal?

Apart from the fact she's a witch and witch dolls are cool, she stands approximately 6 inches tall and has a cute little pot belly. She has ankle length light green hair and light purple skin; but the coolest thing about her is her eyes...

"Endora"

Her eye makeup is very of the time, style wise, and puts me in mind of Agnes Moorehead in Bewitched - ( hence my little girl being called "Endora"!) it's a bright shade of green with tiny flecks of gold glitter over the top.

But even cooler than that is her "light up eyes" ... when you place a AA battery inside her back and shake her up and down for a while, her bright green eyes glow and flash - this looks even cooler in the dark, but as it is intermittent it's not easy to photograph - not that you can tell but the eyes were lighting up in the above photo.

... But I have found a video from Wicked Doll on youtube:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYM-Y-HxwEg or watch it below:

In case you are wondering the light up feature works like this:  the battery is placed in her back and covered, several bouts of shaking cause the circuit to connect and light up the clear bulb which is secured in the base of her neck. Due to the size, colour and transparency of her plastic eyes, the light shines through her eye sockets giving a light green glow as it does... The light is the kind that blinks on and off, so the glow does not come on and stay on, giving the impression the doll's eyes are blinking their green glow.

She also had a variety of outfits, a cauldron, plant spell, crystal ball, an adorable little cottage / carry case and a "dragon car" although that last item was most likely a prototype which never got made or if it did, it's rarer than hen's teeth.

These items were all sold separately - The doll herself came in the black pvc mini dress and witches hat outfit, when purchased.

Photo from Ebay.com
This advert from 1972, shows the whole range of outfits and items which you could buy to create your own "witchy world" for your Emerald Doll:

I was lucky enough to find one for sale about a week ago from an American Seller on ebay, and as you can see from the listing photos below, she's in pretty good nick...

Ebay Listing Photo
Here's what the seller had to say on the listing:

"For your consideration is an Emerald witch doll. She works, however, it takes a while for her little generator to make enough energy to light the bulb. She took me 12 mins of shaking her and stopping before she lit up. Please remember she is 40+ years old. Battery not included.

She is not perfect, as you can see from the pics there are some melt marks around the neck, her hair is frizzy and appears to have been cut. Her outfit is in great condition and complete."

Ebay Listing Photo

I was unsure from the listing if she came with the back plate to cover her battery casing, as I could not see it in any of the photos and it wasn't mentioned in the listing, I could have contacted the seller but as she looked to be in great condition and I've wanted one of these dolls for ages, I decided it didn't matter and that I'd bid on her regardless... So I did!

Ebay Listing Photo

Even better than finding a listing for an Emerald Doll in good condition - I found one in good condition with one of her outfits - called "Saucy Sprite"  - which was complete and appeared to be in good condition as well.

After placing my bid, I really didn't think I had much chance of winning so I tried to forget about it and took myself off to bed, in the morning I was very pleasantly surprised to discover that I was the only bidder and that I had won her for the starting price of $35.00 - approx. £20.72, outfit and all!

Ebay Listing Photo

I have to say, "Saucy Sprite" was never my favorite of her outfit options, but to my mind it's always a bonus when a doll comes with an original outfit, whatever one it is as it provides a great starting block to use when designing and making her some new togs.

That said, my problem with this outfit was the strange chef shaped hat and apron. The problem for me is... what does a crazy chef's outfit have to do with a sprite being saucy?

I wonder if this is another "lost in translation" type things as in the U.K the word "saucy" tends to conjure an image that's rather risque, which surely wouldn't be the intention of a toy maker, so I can only guess that "saucy" in American - English is something similar to "jaunty" in it's definition, or perhaps even "quirky"as that word really suits this outfit!

No matter - since placing it upon her, I've changed my mind, I think she looks adorable and the little hat is rather cute and makes her look quite eccentric when worn.

After a little over a week, she arrived - pretty fast as I normally expect to wait at least two for U.S. deliveries ...  The seller hadn't dressed her for me so I got to play with her right away! (•‿•)

While I was doing my initial "new doll" check over, I discovered that she did in fact come with her back plate intact and better than that it not only fits perfectly, without any looseness but it is also in perfect condition, with not even a scratch on it !  ^_^

And her crazy outfit was not only clean and smell free but it was also in such good condition that it is still crisp and has a "fresh out of the packet" feel... I'd be surprised if it has been used very much at all.

As you can see from this photo of the "Saucy Sprite" outfit in it's original packaging, all that's missing from the one "Endora" came with is the little pink coat hanger, which is fine by me as it was never going to get much use anyway!

Here's "Endora" enjoying her first photoshoot in her new home. The glue bleed the seller mentioned is not visible when she has her clothes on, so at present I'm unsure if I will bother to try and remove it - I'm not sure how deep the lilac skin tone goes so it's possible, if these dolls were dyed after casting, that it could come off if scraped against, which is something I obviously don't want to risk.

She's pretty much perfect as is and having to go through a trial an error process for dye baths which may be too harsh for her vintage vinyl to take, is something I'd much rather avoid unless I have no choice.

Her eye mechanism is a little slow to start, but as it does and continues until the battery is removed (there is no on/off switch, so the only way to get it to work is to shake her and to turn it off you have to remove the battery), I don't mind at all, I'm very pleased to own her and would be if she had been in much worse condition than she is!

The staining on her body was easily removed with cotton wool and water, an beneath them, her skin tone is perfect and not at all damaged by the stain or the removal process.

The only issue she does have is that her hair on one side has been cut slightly, but it's not all that noticeable, and the condition of the rest of the hair is such that a reroot isn't required, so another bonus there!

While I was waiting for her to arrive, I had another nose about and discovered a listing for a naked non - working Emerald The Enchanting Witch Doll with a "melted battery back piece" and an asking price of $95.11 - approximately £56.11.

The only complete outfit I could find for sale was still in it's original cellophane, the seller wanted $134.99 - approximately £79.64.

The boxed one I used a photo of earlier in this post is still connected to the inner card, as she's never been removed and comes with an asking price of $250.00 - approximately £147.50.

I have, in recent months seen listings asking for more than three times this amount, so I guess in a way it's quite cheap, except that you'd have to face the dilemma of whether you should leave her inside or take her out and play with her, buying loose of course alleviates this question as the decision is already made for you and means you can play guilt free!  (>'-')>

As for her little "witches house" / carry case, that comes up every so often too, but always with a large price tag as it's very rare-there is one listed on Ebay.com at present for £500.00 ONO - The seller's paypal isn't working so it's cash on collection from NYC - if the price tag wasn't hairy enough, the location certainly rules me out!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Emerald-the-Witch-Doll-Haunted-House-Playset-Girls-World-1972-Milton-Bradley-/291104336273?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43c72ba991

Still, I have a plan to make my little girl her own "Witchy Cottage", in fact I'd already got it planned out before she arrived, now I have her to measure up against, I've been finalising the design and am about to make a start... but more about that once I've got something tangible to show off!

Btw, if you'd like to check out the ebay listing for the house, I've placed the link under the picture, so just click the caption.

Well, that's it for now, thanks for reading!
Take care,

🍎 Death Note Amane Misa - Icy Doll by Arker 🍎

youtube.com

In 2014 I started writing this Post about a my /Icy doll. I wasn't too interested in them when they came out I find then a little plain faced and not very pretty.

But then I discovered the Misa one and as I the love Death Note Amine and I loved all the little accessories she came with I had to have her!

I also loved her box, with it's images of her Shinigami Rem and smaller images of Yagami Light's Shinigami Ryuk.

The sides of the box show images of her  which are taken from the anime.

She comes with a small handbag, pair of shoes, black lace arm warmers and black lace stockings and  her cuddly toy - which looks like a tiny version of herself.

She also comes with a black stand to allow her to as she is unable to stand up by herself.

Her hair is styled in the same way she wears it in the anime, and her clothes are a close impression of the Gothic / Punky style she has, which they've done a pretty good job of replicating while making her little outfit.

She also comes wearing a cute little skull and cross bones necklace and a studded choker around her neck.

The reason I wasn't so keen on this dolls when they first arrived on the market is because they have quite round chubby faces and quite a boyish expression on their faces.

While these dolls are often called "Blythe Clones" and do come with a pull string on the back of their heads, they are not able to change their eye colours like Blythe Dolls can.

In the case of Icy Dolls the pull string is there to make the doll "wink" when pulled.

The biggest thing that attracted me to this doll was her box, I liked her little outfit, although it does have a more "slutty" vibe than a Goth or Punk one and the little cuddly toy she came with.

I decided that I would buy her, most likely change her body for an Azone one as she is unable to bend her arms and legs and I much prefer dolls with posability.

I also plan to repaint and possibly sculpt her face a little to make her look closer to Misa than she does at present..

Wish me luck!
