Franken-Bratz...

This little girl was an experiment in 2009, I'd had I've been thinking for a while that Bratz would be way cooler if they had a Barbie type body with non-removable feet so.....

I tried a little experiment with one of my Bratz and a articulated Barbie Body.

It's not a great skin tone match but the best I could come up with from my box of victims!

I think it works pretty well tho' so well in fact that she's staying like this!

Artist Doll from same Seller who has all those Evie Sweetie Busts.

I'm really unsure as to whether or not I like her, but this kind of doll really does inspire me, so I decided I'd save her here so I can refer back to her at a later date, when I've allowed my muse time to work out how I should let this "inspiration" guide me!

If you're interested in owning her, she's going for £65.00 + Postage (Buy It Now) ... just copy and paste the title below into  Ebay and you should find her straight away!

Sheila, the Trans-Sexual Barbie. 2004

Copyright for the images and intellectual idea belongs to Herbie, 2004.

Sheila is a pre-op trans-sexual currently spending a year as a woman before having the operation which will make her a 'real woman'.

She wears a subtle designer mini dress with silver halter neck (handmade by me!) , Crystal drop earrings, Gold eye shadow to bring out the blueness of her eyes and red lipstick. Her hair is naturally long and curly and tied back with a red bow.

She holds a large pink handbag and wears black and pink converse type shoes (it's not easy finding feminine shoes in her size) Her chest is padded out with toilet paper.

Sheila started life as a "Captain Smith" Ken Doll (from Pocahontas), I spotted him sitting in the window of a charity shop I was passing by and the idea came to me in an instant, so I had to buy him, take him home and help him become the woman he wanted to be...

I have no idea where the name Sheila came from, it just felt right to call the finished doll that.

Little Big Eyes .... From Donna ... Restoration Begins ... woot!!

Originally posted in Dolls More Dolls on Multiply - 12th June 2009 - 9:50 PM

I already had a L.B.E with this colour hair but have been regretting removing her eyebrows to "Blythe her up" ever since I did it :( As she is a Series 1 and they are crazy to get hold of...I should know had a devil of a time winning my two :( (I have one from series 1 and one from series 2!)

Loads get bought up to be "Blythed" so to find them in original clothing, boxes and all intact is pretty rare!

When this little lady arrived with broken leg but perfect eyebrows I know just what to do...Take mine out of the box and exchange faces lol

Then use this one (after fixing leg) as a practice doll for a full customisation!

I'm thinking Alice In Wonderland with Punk Pink Hair wooot!!

Naked to access damage to leg

To take off the face you first have to remove the hair.
Oh and on Series 1 the cap too... oddly series 2 do not have this cap!

Ok hair's gone now's time to pop that cap...wish me luck :-S

Yay that wasn't too hard!
Now to remove the screws and pop open the head...and make sure I collect up all the bits of the eye mechanism!!

Oooo Faceless!
My trusty scapel comes in handy again!

Ok so If I'm going to fix that leg I need to take the body apart as well!
Oops snapped the other leg lol never mind have plenty of cement to fix it up!!

Right what's next?
Oh I know unpack other L.B.E and make her watch!

:( No Eyebrows...Bad Herbie!

It really shows too :(
Removed her hair...but where is her Cap?? hmmm curious!

Ok you ready girl?...Deep Breath!

All done and back in box!
I realised the eyes on the new one were much nicer as they have better defined pupils so I swapped them over too!

Hmmm well seeing as she has now got weak coloured eyes I'm gonna give them some colour too!
First thing I have to do is remove the eye chips to have a better look at them!

Glue legs back into hips...
Test they will still work...sorted *grin*

Put body back together, put eye chips and head cap safe!

Put eyes back in head and screw up!
Awww noo kinda sad looking still I now have a clean canvas to make Alice with!!
Stay Tuned, more Custom work coming soon on this little girl...

Trick or Treater Expressions Doll

My muse must have been working over time when she gave me inspiration for this little lady - who bagn life as a Blond haired male Expressions doll, with missing fingers on one hand donated to me by a friend.

After several weeks of  him sitting on my mantelpiece,I suddenly realised that every time I looked at him I saw a trick or treater who'd had a scare and so work started on this little girl!

The entire outfit was made from patterns designed by myself and hand stitched as I didn't have a sewing machine at the time.

The Hair re-root took a couple of weeks to complete in Tibetian Lambswool Mohair. But the effect was just what I wanted, as it naturally stands up and is so so soft to the touch too!

Scared stiff face!!
She's wearing a lace trimmed dress, over stripey tights and lace trimmed bloomers (that match the lining of her cape). The whole ensemble is finished with a black cape, lined with "Trick or treat" pumpkin patterned fabric and tied at the neck with black ribbon, finished with skull bead toggles.

Better view of Treats bag

Her hand was rebuilt using dry hard modelling clay, which was then painted to match her dark skin tone.

Her cape has a "Stand alone" collar, and it and the rest of her outfit was designed by me after measuring her, I sketched out a few ideas of how I'd like her to look, made a few paper patterns, chose my fabrics and trims and set to work hand-sewing the lot together!

This angle shows the outfit off a little better, as this doll has quite a floppy body (soft filled) I tend to photograph her sitting down, she could be made to stand but I think she looks better sitting, with her "treats" spilled out around her!

I made her a little "treats bag" from a pattern which I tried to print out from Puchi Collective (Blythe lover's site) Unfortunately, I didn't consider I may run out of ink half way through! So I ended up having to sketch the pattern on myself before painting it with acrylic paints and sealing by covering in some clear vinyl (the kind used to cover books with) and then punching small holes into it with a pin, before threading some gold cord through for handles.

I made her some treats to go inside her bag by collecting images from Google Images and gluing them together, before covering them with small strips of clear vinyl.

I also made a selection of American Candies - these images I got from Ann Venture's Mini Printables site http://www.paperminis.com/ (Member's section).

Ooak Custom, Strawberry Shortcake to Custard Doll!

(Originally uploaded 6th December to Multiply)

As Bought - Her face was in need of a repaint, eyes were dull and scratched. Face paint was faded and scratched off in parts, she was nekkid and suffering form a very bad case of Attic-Bed Head! Which came with a very musty odour too!

I started by washing her hair, several times, styled and dried it, then added a strawberry scent to it.

After that I started on the face paint.

Then I made her a tight fitting cat suit, complete with tail and Voila...One "Custard" doll to go with my near- perfect Strawberry Shortcake Doll!

The Winehouse Twins - Ooak Expressions Doll Custom

The twins took a while to complete, after re-locating the arms I did 2 full re-roots using synthetic human hair extensions  which I then styled into beehives.

Eye make up, lipstick and cheek piercings were added, then came the fun part - the clothes!

I re-styled several items of clothing taken from expressions dolls into a Ooak Siamese twin dress and made white bloomers to go underneath.

The faces were sealed with clear varnish.

Both doll's were re-rooted and their hair was styled into matching beehives, after which they were given "Winehouse -style makeup" and matching "Monroe" piercings!

Their bodies were cut and sewn together after removal of certain limbs, which were then relocated and sewn back onto the body. The left and right leg of each was removed and relocated.

The outfit is made of a combination of 2 Expressions Dolls outfits, slightly altered and sewn to accommodate limbs.
