Mattel Fashionista Swappin' Styles "Artsy" Nikki Restoration & Custom

A few months back I bought this bundle of dodgy looking Barbies just because I spotted the Fashionista Swappin' Styles "Artsy" Nikki head and really wanted to help her!

I'm sure the seller thinks I'm a mental, I mean look at the total insanity!

Yeah I know she's a total mess, right?!

Cue months of dolly therapy and a body replacement for the poor little sod!

I decided on a Bratzilla "Sashabella Paws" body as I wanted the articulation, height and it's also a pretty good skin match albeit a tad orange but that won't be so apparent when she has some clothes on.

Anyhoo, here she is now...

She still has a slight blemish from the dots (freckles?) on her left cheek but they are barely noticeable - I will sort it out one day soon, I also need to do something about her chopped up hair...but for now I'm giving both of us a  bit of a rest!

Before I go, here's a before and after ...

Kurhn Re-root!

Kurhn re-root In Rosewood Auburn Nylon Hair.

She has bat wings tattooed on her back...not sure what the orig' hair colour was tho' as I bought her bald with saran for re-rooting... the hair colour was not my choice, it was one of 2 colours that my Kurhn's came with, I used the fairy's breath (a very light pink) for a vintage Sindy re-root, but I thought this one would look good in this colour, even if she has blue eyebrows!

Interesting fact - Kurhn Dolls are made in Korea and sold as "The Korean Barbie" although I think she is much prettier than most Barbie dolls are!

Rubber Donald Duck - Update!

You may remember from a couple of posts ack, I'd got my hands on an adorable Vintage Donald Duck Bendy toy? Well...

I decided to restore him...first I had to find a rubber friendly way of fixing the cracks in the rubber and sealing it so it won't re-crack...

Then I gave him a paint job in Acrylic Paint ... I tried to make the colours as close to the original colours as I could mix *Grin*

I noticed a few things about him during this process...firstly he has made in Malaysia on his back.

Under his tail you can just make out the copyright symbol and the words Walt Disney Productions.

There is a date just above this but the numbers are so worn I can't read them  :(

Still never mind here he is ... my restored Donald....Wooohoooo!

The pic's are a bit hazy tho' as they were taken on my crappy little mobile phone!

But I think you may be able to guess, I'm very pleased with the result and have decided to show him off in my Dolly Collector Group as well as for my Flickr Friends!
