BRATZ BABYZ Just got a whole lot cooler!!!

I found 2 of these Bratz Babyz on my travels, one had no hair pieces - such a stupid idea making them removable - why did MGA do this?

Unless you were able to swap and change these with different styles etc, it seems to daft to me, but I digress, the other girl had one out of the three she should have had...

While I was checking them over and deciding if I want to take them home with me or not, by now the idea I could most likely sell them on had taken hold... my Muse appeared and showed me what they could become, so of course I bought them both, took them home and began work with a bit of artistic tweeking.

At the time I was very new to the idea of customising, but as the three-bunch girl had issues with her eye transfers, I decided she would be a good place to start, but oddly i didn't start with her as I'd already had some ideas for little miss two bunch and so...

I removed her eye make up and replaced it with "Snakes Eyes", then I started on her hair, adding cobalt blue streaks, by this time I'd already decided I was going to buy some blue dyed wool yarn and give her some CyberGoth style Dread Falls!
I finished the first one today...(the original is on the right of the above image) and couldn't wait to show her

The hardest part was making some clothes for her, but I decided to add onto her t-shirt (the only item of clothing she came to me with) and made a skirt, and some lace arm warmers.
I'm currently working on her twin, and will be posting the pic's just as soon as she's finished. Then I'll continue with my plan to sell th

I made her some earrings (she didn't have any of them either) and some "lipstick" and then, I fell in love with her myself, so the idea of actually selling her on went out the window After all I get a feeling that animal eyed cyber-goth Bratz dolls are kinda rare!!

I gave her "nail varnish" and then coated all the painted areas with several coats of varnish to keep it safe and chip-free.

Check out her dad falls!!

I combined the yarn with some black hair extentions sold for humans, I think it works really well, and I'm quite pleased with the earrings too, but ...

I didn't think the dress worked very well at all, and so I made a pattern, then made them both some new dresses.

But I'll tell you about that, and show you both the completed dolls in a later post!

More Turtle Talk!

Ok so there I am yesterday by the pond, cold can o' beer in hand watching my terrapins basking and thinking life don't get much better than this...when...

All of a sudden Poor Mr.Yang's head's covered in bird droppings!!

I couldn't help myself and found I'd rushed inside and grabbed my camera, somehow managing to keep it steady as I was laughing so much, and snapped off this image or her!

Being a kind hearted soul I decided to put her shame up on my blog for the world to see...awww no I have guilt now!

The Story of Stella....

Thought I'd share the story of how I got my latest shelled person with y'all...

Her name's Mr.Stella A'tuin and she's a rescue I got her from a Sanctuary the other side of the Country lol some journey that was to go and pick her up! anyway she came to be there 'cos Bonfire Night some horrible human decided to tie her to a Firework and see what would happen...

lucky for her she kept her head and legs in her shell, and that the rocket didn't have enough oomph in it to lift her although in some ways this was a bad thing as when it exploded it was sitting on top of her so the tremors went right through her body and she suffered burn damage to her shell...how evil is that?

I'm told she's kinda famous as her story was told T.V and the sanctuary did ask if I'd be willing to have a film crew come and record her rehoming!

Anyway, here she is enjoying her new home!

Dolls and Me...

I don't remember when I first started collecting dolls, I just know I aways have.

I had my own doll cabinet full of dolls in National Costumes, these I kept out of harms way, and just took them out on occasion and marvelled at their clothing and thought about how different life must be in all those far away countries depicted by the dolls in my collection.

Every time I went somewhere I always had to return with a doll!

Family members also brought many of them back for me...I ended up with well over 100!

That's without the Tiny Tears, Sindy, Barbie, Victoria Plum, Princess Leia and countless other dolls I played with on a daily basis!!

As I've grown up I have lost most of my original collection, but have recently been finding myself unable to resist when I see a doll similar to one I once loved!!

My collection consists of a lot of newly acquired dolls, ones I had and lost, ones I never had but always wanted but also a few of my childhood dolls remain...and they always make me smile!

I've made this site in the hope that others will also feel lifted when looking at my dolls.

Enjoy,

Herbie X

Oh and I discovered something else recently...not as cool as that Jigsaw but still cool ...Check this out!!

http://www.pictosaic.com/

A Cool ass site where you can upload your own pic's and turn them into multi imaged mosaic posters etc...pretty cool huh?

The site is limited to only a few actions that you can perform and there is only 13 types of images which you can click to have made into your image but it produces some cool ass effects... The thing to do is try a few different types of image, coloured backgrounds etc and then upload to make an original masterpiece...and better still no download required!! wooooot I tell ye!

ok here's a sample ...

Oh and another...showing a close up of what you get wooot!

How cool is that? And you can set it so it makes the multi images more visible from far away or your own uploaded image if you prefer....anyway enough of my rantings...go check it out!!!

This is so cool ....

The picture is so small on that style feed thing but hey never fear Herbie's here!!

Check out this cool as jigsaw...

It's called 'The Founding Fathers'

Man I just gotta get me a poster of this wooooot!!!!!!

25th March = Yay Day!!

My Little Miss No Name arrived today...I'm so happy with her!

She was made in 1965 by Hasbro.

I fell in love with these dolls the first time I saw one listed on Ebay, only seems a lot of other people did too!

Everytime I bidded on one loads of other people did too and I lost her *sob*... so when I bid on this one I was determined I was going to win it...and yay I did!

She's in perfect condition the only thing is her lack of clothing or tear drop, but I found a shop on Ebay that sells Repro Little Miss No Name stuff so I have ordered the dress, headband, panties and tear...now I just have to wait arrrgh!!
Pictures of her returned to her former glory will be added as soon as her clothing arrives!

Another grueling day of Website Building...

I finally managed to sort out finding somewhere to host my website and have spent the last gawd knows how many days making it! Only being a sucker I decided not to just make the one...but 3!!
One for my paint and pencil based art, One for my Doll based art and another one so I can show off my doll collection!!
And so far it's going quite well...seems it's actually easier to build 3 sites at the same time than just work on the 1... don't ask me why!!

I have a new edition to my doll collection... a Blythe In the Medieval Mood Repro, which I can't wait to show off!!

So there will definitely be loads of pictures of her going up on here and well all over the 'net soon!

that's it for now, I'm baby-sitting all next week so it looks like I'm not going to have much time to do diddly-squat for a while...

ah well, laters peeps!

Websites, the hard way!

Well...I have spent the best part of today trying to build my website!

It's crazy I've made two from scratch but this new one I'm working on...blimey seriously hard work.

The plan was to build a straight forward Gallery nothing more fancy than that...ah well I guess I should get back to it...

Yesterday's News - 1st March 2008

Yesterday, My son and I went to my Parents home. They were going to pick up their new 'Baby' from Llanelli Dog's Home, so it fell to us to go and 'Auntie-Sit' while they were away.

Auntie Ollie is 93 this year. She moved in with my Parents about a year back as the rest of my family in England were, well lets just say they really couldn't be bothered to give her any of their time. Sad really as she has such a great sense of humour and an active mind, with hundreds of stories to tell.
She was a musician, played piano, accordion and balalaika. Toured Europe with a Ukrainian folk group and even played the Royal Albert Hall!

Hanging out with Auntie is great fun and as you can probably tell I'm proud to have her in my family.

Anyway, the point of the Auntie-sit was for them to go get their new baby, who as you have probably guessed is a dog!

And here he is... He's names Dodger and is 7 weeks old, a bit too young to be re-homed but after you hear his story, you'll understand why.

He was the only one left of his litter. I don't know why, but the Mother killed all the others and somehow he managed to dodge his fate and ended up in a dog's home.

My parents' after telling me I have to stop falling for sob stories, fell for his when the plumber they recently hired started telling them about him and then showed them a picture...and that I guess was that, they had to have him!

Here's a pic' of my Dad growling at my Mum, so Dodger doesn't have too!

And here's the proof that there's a new man (be it a little hairy one) in my Mum's life!!

Hello Blog World!!

I've seen many blogs on the internet over the years and thought to myself "Hmmm, I could so do that, I've got loads to say!! But well now I come to start one I'm sitting here thinking "Arrrgh...Where to start?"
Seems so long since I did anything interesting enough to blog about but well maybe you'll be interested in some of the things I have been writing about recently.

I discovered Squidoo yay and made a few lenses. One on Terry Pratchett's Discworld books, not as comprehensive as I would have liked but damn there are just so many of them, I'd be writing the world's longest lens if I did!

How to survive a Zombie Attack, strangely this lens seems to be of great interest. I wrote a short essay on how the yBa changed the concept of Art as we knew it... I'm pretty up on Art, being an artist myself and the proud owner of a B.A in Fine Arts, so maybe there will be some blogs on that in future.

I was planning to train as a Secondary School Art Teacher but well, I'm not too sure any more, not because of the a Art side or even the Teenagers - I'm pretty good with both!
It's just that after a recent visit to my Son's school - Yep I'm the mother of a teenager, wow I can hardly believe that one myself! - It was just when I came into contact with the Teachers there I found myself thinking "These people are nothing like me...How the hell can I spend all day with just these to talk to?" so looks like I'm back to working out my next career move...ah well

Anyway, my Squidoo lenses - the final one is a how to on doll hair re-rooting...I make Ooak (one of a kind dolls) although not the kind that most people want!

Damn it that's the problem with my Painting too...people want it in their houses but they just don't want to pay for it to be there...yeah like My Son and I don't need to eat!!!

I've just realised how therapeutic writing this is and yay it's given me loads of ideas on what to blog about next...So just watch this space people!

Take Care y'all,
