🌼 Unknown Doll / Disco Diva 🌼

I bought this doll from Ebay UK several years ago, she has weird little plastic loops under her feet so I think she may have once been a display doll which would have sat on the counter and displayed the latest outfits in 1/6 scale.

Other than that I have no ideas about her but would welcome any suggestions anyone has...

She is around Barbie height and came in this disco-esque style outfit, which is why I've taken to calling her "Disco Diva"!

The things on her feet make it impossible for her to wear normal barbie size shoes, but I have found that a pair of MyScene? boots work well, provided you don't attempt to push them too far up her legs.

At some point I'll probably cut them off so I can find her a better pair of boots, which actually match her outfit, but I'm loathe to do so until I find out why she has them and what type of doll she actually is.

Here's a bad photo of her weird foot thingies, hopefully one of you has an idea what they're about please let me know!

They appear to have been made as part of the doll's skeleton - look under an older Barbie or Sindy doll's foot and you'll see a small slit with a bit of white hard plastic inside, hopefully, you get what I mean - when I was small I used to think these were the doll's leg bones!

25th June 2014 - Birthday with The Hujoos, Makie & Tangkou Custom - Bliss!

Makie & Hujoo photoshoot - Langland Bay, Swansea.

Pendle and Akimoto relaxing in the sun.

Asami, Kasa & maitake soaking up some rays.

Asami, Kasa & Maitake make a new friend while sunbathing on the beach!

I took this photo' to stealthily include the group of girls who had obviously never seen a Doll Collector at play before, I gave them a little show with my Zombie girl before arranging my Makie & Hujoos for their photo shoots... They must have enjoyed it as they seemed fascinated by what I was doing & appeared to be texting or uploading photographs of the "strange middle-aged woman playing with dolls in Langland Bay"!

So if you see any memes or instagram pic's ... "That's me that is"!

Sadly we didn't get much time to play, so not many beach shots happened that day before we had to pack up and head off to Caswell Bay, which provided us with another opportunity to take some photo's - this time it was my Tangkou Custom's turn to get in on the action...

Zombie Girl's Photoshoot - Bishop's Wood Nature Reserve, Caswell Bay, Swansea.

During our photo' session/ dog walk in the woods found her new name and will now be known by the moniker "Creeping Stink Flesh" - I think it suits her very well!

I managed to snap these two photo's before my Son stole not only my camera but "Stink Flesh" too and wandered off into the woods to take the following photographs - that's my boy...

For some reason this photo puts me in mind of Lucio Fulci's Zombi 2 aka Zombie Flesh Eaters.

Disclaimer:  I have been told to make it clear that my Son is not into dolls or playing with them... I'm also not allowed to mention his own doll collection and as I have definitely not done so there's no chance of him telling me of when he reads this!

Ok I'm so Gutted Post in Dolls More Dolls, Jun 3, '09 9:39 PM by Herbie for everyone

I came across someone's blog by accident just now... and a post under the title of Ugly Duckling 27th July 2007 had a pic' of this awesome doll (see first pic')... minus her hand...

There was a note on it saying please help with ID or if you want to adopt and email address... so I took a chance and mailed.

I started thinking yay when I received a reply and started reading... yes I still have her... yes she's still for sale - she's priced at $50 + shipping.... OK!

Then comes the scary part.... as I read on...

.... I've heavily customised her (oh NO... she was perfect as she was only needed a new hand and a Herbie to love her :-S)

Anyhoo... I clicked the link... and HORROR upon Horrors!!!

I'm confronted with pic' number 2 (dated 3 days later) *sob*

So my dear friends.... could you all be on the lookout for one like the first pic'?  And think of poor old upset Herbie if you do find one?

I didn't even know this doll existed but now I do I'm in love... :(

And feeling so disappointed that the only chance I might ever get to own one of these cuties is a been butchered beyond belief messed up poor old needs to be thrown away and never try to customise again....ARE YOU MAD???? doll

*sob*

Thanks buddies, Herbs x

P.S.... I think she may be a Kamar Doll... ???

And before you all have a go at me, yes I am fully aware that customisation is a matter of personal taste and one man's "Beauty" may be another Man's "Turd" but for me and my love of vintage toys, I found it depressing, very depressing and would have just kept hold of her and waited until I could find a suitable replacement hand, not ripped her apart and repainted her... oh well... eyes peeled anyway.

Pedigree Sindy Friend June - 3rd Edition 1975

I've just bought this little lady, the seller listed her as "Vintage Sindy Doll on her head 055014 on her back 033126x on her bottom 033127x", But she is in fact a June Doll.
Now in case you don't know much about June, she is a Friend of Sindy, Pedigree Sindy that is, she was available in the U.K only and she well, here's the gimmick, she wasn't actually sold!

Nope I didn't make that up... June was a kind of "Reward" for any little girls who had bought or been given a certain number of Sindy Doll products, because each item had a heart shaped "Sindy Token" on the packaging and once the little girl had saved up 24 Sindy Tokens, she could send them off to Pedigree and in return, the Postman would bring her a brown box with a "June" doll inside...How cool is that?!

June didn't come in any fancy clothing or packaging though, just a plain brown box and wearing only her frilly white undies, but that didn't matter as her body is the same size and proportions to Sindy herself, so June could in true "Best Friend Style" go through Sindy's wardrobe and "borrow" some of her stuff to wear!

I'm sure Sindy was fine with this set up, after all the cheapest way to save up all those tokens, would be to buy items of clothing, and therefore Sindy probably had masses of outfits!

June i.d, can become a bit confusing, due to her having nothing but a number on the back of her head, and in a couple of other places on her body - this is what lead the seller who sold her to me to believe tat even though she didn't have Sindy's extremely recognisable face, she must have been a Sindy, as most people had have ever held a vintage Sindy know the number on the back of her head begins with 033! There is also the little matter that she went through 2 previous incarnations before the final June incarnation was produced starting in 1975.

The two previous June Dolls have little in common, so it is not only easy to confuse them with other Pedigree dolls, and most likely it is considered that they be good quality Clone Dolls, but they all also have different body moulds, and in the case of the first June, are a different height and hair colour with not even a hint that the 3 dolls may in essence be the same doll, or a least I mean same in terms of name and where she fits in the "Evolution of Sindy's Friend's Scale".

The second issue and third issue have much more to place them together, but drastically different faces, and hair styles.

Her hair is a little "roughed up" but I like it more like this!
Also, she came in this outfit - even better as it is "Tartan Touch" from  1979!

My June is the third edition of this doll, and to me, she is the most beautiful out of the three, even if she does have a crazy basin-cut hairdo reminiscent of "Purdy" from The New Avengers!

"Good ol' Purdy"!
The first June to be sent out in exchange for tokens, had a dark auburn almost brown shade of hair, was 9 inches high, she had a very odd face to my mind, her lips are slightly pursed looking, which makes them seem rather large and painted a bright pink, which makes them look even larger, size wise she was closer to "Patch" than to Sindy. Her height meant that even though she also arrived in just her "tiny whiteys", she was able to "clothes share" with your Patch Doll, providing you had a Patch Doll, if not then I guess you had to buy Patch clothing for her to wear. I know I'm most likely being cynical but I wouldn't be surprised if that was the point of the June Dolls being all but naked when they arrive!

The second June to be produced and sent out in exchange for tokens, was the same height as Sindy, 12 inches, She had very light, almost white blonde hair with a fringe, a Sindy Trendy Girl Body, red lipstick and her face is reminiscent of the later 1980s Sindy made by Hasbro, which is often referred to by collector's as being a "Smirky Sindy" because her facial expression is slightly mocking from some angles!

The third edition of June (mine) was made in 1975, the only markings she has on her body are "Made in Hong Kong" on her back and the number codes:055014 on the back of her head, 033126X on her back and 033127X. Her body is the same as Trendy Girl Sindy Body in some dolls - this may or may not be a sign the Pedigree factory were using up spare parts... Also, My June has a twisting waist.

Vintage Ideal Doll Copyright 1974 Made in Hong Kong Drinks And Wets

Just bought this little girl, I have been looking for her for years, I had one of these as well as a Teeny Tiny Tears doll when I was small, and I loved them both so much, I have no idea what happened to either of them, but I have been trying to replace them both for about 10 years now! The problem is the doll has to be "Just right" I can't just say "Well it's a Tiny Tear" and opt for the older and Larger one, or get a brown haired one or something like that, it has to be exactly as I remember her or I just won't be able to love her in the same way!

Well yesterday I mailed a lovely seller on Ebay who had a famosa baby for sale, she looked similar but not quite, so I asked her some questions...while I discovered her doll is not the one I've been searching for (it was bigger too) her reply did prompt me to keep trying different keywords until I found something like her or at least some info on who is is and who made her...I got lucky - Very Lucky!

I found her... for $1.99!!
This works out to approx £1.24. The postage was $12.60, (approx £7.83).

Here's the writeup and photos from the listing:

This auction is for an Ideal Baby Doll that drinks and wets. She is in good condition free of any damage but could use a good bath. She is marked on her back. She measures approx. 6-1/2" long.

Mine had on the exact same Romper Suit, so I'm sure it is the original outfit she was sold in!

Even though her body parts are moulded all in one, it didn't distract at all and I remember her having an almost skin-like feel to her,

Here's another listing I found, I almost bid on this one, until I found my one on a buy it now...BUY IT NOW FOR £1.24??!

Ideal Baby Doll is about 6.5 inches tall. It is called Baby Baby.
She had a bottle that is made of hard plastic and is square at the top of the nipple.

When inserted into her mouth and pushed slightly, her cheeks pull in a little like she is sucking the bottle.
Then if you turn the bottle when it is slightly pushed in, her eyes will close. She is from 1974.
Markings on her back read B-6-B-52

Mouth is open and looks like she is a drink and wet doll. Head does move side to side.
Arms and legs are fixed and do not move. She is in a cute blue romper

I don't actually remember her being a "wetting" doll, but the thing I absolutely adored about her was that her cheeks went in as you pressed the bottle in and it looked like she really was drinking, I had forgotten about the "eye close function" but since reading it, I have remembered it so vividly.

I'm so looking forward to her arrival, from America, it'll be at least a week, but still, that doesn't matter, it's not like I haven't already waited a while so an extra week is nothing.

I'm looking forward to washing her and getting her back as close to how mine was when I last held her, I think the hair is made of the kind of ylon that Frizzes with age and then stays like that forever, or at least until a re-root happens, but I don't care, I have no plans to re root either unless on closer inspection it really is bad, but I'll just have to wait and see for that one.

I'll have to see if the Baby Born Bottles I have here are a fit for her, but ultimately I'd like to get a couple of those clear ones with pink teets and a "milk" coloured liquid in them that looked so real, that I used to feed her and Tiny Tears with.

Oh wow I've just remembered I called my Tiny Tears Tina ...Now if only I could remember the name I gave to this one too!

The plan is to get the Teeny Tiny Tears soon, so they can both snuggle up together like my little ones used to...Fingers crossed!

1971 Chatty Cathy Doll

This doll has no markings on her body but there are several number/letter codes under her hair... at the back of her head (right side under hair) it reads chatty then underneath 971 and then after a gap another 1.
She has a few missing hair plugs at the back but these are hardly noticable, unless you are searching about like I was lol
Her legs are swingy but I think this is due to her side being split from too much laughing!!
Her voice box doesn't work, but I know this is fixable, with the right know-how.

close up

Face is slightly lighter than body, and has weird mark on left cheek...kinda looks like when some-one cries while wearing foundation and you get them tear-tracks if  you get me!

The voice box inside is non-working and is the white round box kind...did contemplate seeing what i could do, but then thought no sell her to some-one who knows what they are doing
Right hand
not sure if you can see it but third finger nail on right hand has slight indentation (poss' tooth-mark)

Left Side

Seam is open from neck right down the side and underneath - to protect her modesty I am not going to tell you where!!

Left Foot

Heel has some pressed in damage...possibly from being made to wear the wrong shoes?? There is a small hole in the plastic.

Right Foot
As left, only this side has 2 small holes.

Front of head
Just above fringe line has 8 or so missing hair-plugs.

Still she only cost me a £1 or so, and I couldn't leave her after I saw her sitting outside of a Charity shop one Afternoon!

THE SWEETHEARTS!!

I originally posted this cute couple in the Dolls More Dolls Group on Multiply as I was curious about my handsome Man-Doll and wanted to find out more about him, I'd been searching Mattel Lovers Websites, and Ebay and everywhere else I could think of then duh!
I remembered my Dolly Group!

Original Post (as above):

He needs an ID...all I know is he was made by Mattel and has 1975 Taiwan on his back.

I'm pretty sure his clothes and shoes are original...I bought him and the Dollykin together from the U.S a couple of years back I couldn't resist as they were listed as "Sweethearts" and looked so good together..lol

When they arrived, they had the heart pillow (which is so so soft) and a Baby!!

Woo the journey musta taken a while in dolly years then!

Anyhoo, If anyone can tell me who he is that would be cool...failing that it's still cool 'cos he's gorgeous anyhow lol

Seller's Photo.
The Girl is marked on neck...UNEEDA DOLLIKIN 1970.

She is multi jointed, her stringing is a bit loose, so she's a little project for me when I have time.

Beautiful shiny auburn red hair, which has never been cut, bright blue eyes and stands about 12 inches tall.

Her handsome beau, has a typical 70s haircut and is marked on neck MATTEL 1975.

He is also multi jointed, and 12 inches tall.

They are both dressed in vintage factory made clothing.

Pic 1 - is one of the reasons I fell in love with this pair...they look so sweet together!

The seller was kind enough to let me have the little cushion they are nestling against too!

They took 2 weeks to arrive from America.

When they got here and I unwrapped them I discovered that they had had enough time to make a baby on the journey!! - see pic'3

Their baby is by Simba.

I adored how they looked so in love sitting together with that Heart Shaped Pillow behind them, and as I'd always wanted a Dollikin and hadn't seen a red-head one before, I was sold! I had a bargain as even with postage from the U.S.A, they worked out cheaper than it would have cost me to buy a Dollikin on her own from the U.K! And even better, I had the bonus of getting a gorgeous boy-doll (sadly there are not many of them in existence ) and a Vintage one too, so it was a had to have!

Anyway, back to the original post... one day later I had an I.D and more in the form of Russ' to the Rescue!

It turns out his name is Michael , his true love is Melinda, they are the Young Sweet Hearts Dolls Line.

The couple were sold together and they had several matching outfits sold together, these are:

Country Mates Fashion,
Picnic Pinks Fashions,
Party Day Blue and Sunny Sunday Fashion.
Each fashion was a outfit for both dolls, and there was also a Wishing Well Park Play Set.
Another little tidbit from Russ':

The Sweet Heart Michael's body was used on later Ken Dolls that are jointed, I think Alan from the Happy Family Range shares his body type.

"What Not To Wear..."

Trinny: "Omg... I can't believe you are wearing that hair with them boots and that belt!"

Susanna: "Yeah she's not even slightly orange like me!"

Trinny: "Must have got dressed in the dark...the 70's are long gone y'know!"

Susanna: "Yeah could of made an effort! .. I mean look at us we're fashion icons!"

Amtoy: "But..but I'm a vintage Amtoy clone doll...what do you expect?"

Trinny: "Well I think you should try the green skirt with the brown flowers, and the purple boots, and you need a lot more make up...imagine Sus' ... she   actually thinks she can get away with the natural look!"

Susanna: "Or the orange blouse with the ruffed sleeves and the brown skirt with the purple stripes and green dots and the pink boots"

Amtoy: "Help Me!!"

*Credit for "Custom  Job" on Barbie goes to Toypincher (Flickr name) a.k.a Simon, who sent her to me*
(I just love her, she makes me laugh every time I look at her!)
