.•:*¨¨*:•. Club Chic Pippa .and Crystal Anthropomorphic Dolls •:*¨¨*:•.

Amazon.co.uk

Back in 2014, MGA Entertainment released a series of anthropomorphic dolls, called Club Chic. The gimmick was they all attended a school called Bear Valley Hills, and each one dressed in her own style which was designed to appeal to the fashion trends of the time, there was a "Chic" one, A "Geek" one, a "Goth" one, a "Pop" one and a "Hip Hop" one...

Sounds horribly similar to those gawd awful Spice Girls, doesn't it?

Unlike the Spice Girls, these dolls were actually pleasant to look at and had thier own individual "talents"!

Pippa, who you can see on the far right was the Blogger of the group, with beautiful long magenta hair and oversized "geekish" glasses... she came with a cute little owl faced bag, which is too big for her and so doubles up as a mini bag or purse for her human owner.

Next to her is Candy, dressed in a "Pop" inspired outfit with streaked pink and yellow hair, she is an International Supermodel apparently.

Then comes, Lil' B the Hip Hop dancer, wearing street clothes, headphones and comes with a little bag in the shape of a retro Boombox.

Violet is a Gothy artist who has a blue streak in her otherwise black hair and comes with a cute little spider's web bag.

And finally, Crystal the Film Starlet, who comes dressed in a silver gown ready for her red carpet debut.

In terms of posability there isn't really much as they only turn at the head, shoulders and hips, plus they have their left arms moulded into a "hand on hip" type pose while their right hands are formed into what I like to refer to as a grabby hand.

I did however, really like thier faces and thought I might be able to turn one or more of them into a cute little anthropomorphic custom, so when I saw one come up on Ebay a few years after their release, I snapped her up, and so purchased my first  Club Chic Pippa!

Once I received her, I changed my mind about customising her, she is just too cute and has little pads on her hands and the bottom of her feet, she also has a cute little pot bellied shape to her body and her face transfers and little freckles are adorable too, so of course, I couldn't bring myself to do it to her!

Her head is made of really hard plastic and as it turned out not easy to remove... I unfortunately marked her head hole trying so I decided the best thing to do would be to buy another so I can keep one as is and customise the other, so that's what I did.

Only, things changed again, because the more I kept looking at Crystal, I kept wondering if it would be possible to alter her face somewhat to make her look more like one of my dream dolls - Peteena Fashion Poodle by Hasbro.

Peteena  - worthpoint.com
I decided to keep an eye out for another Pippa as well as a Crystal, I wanted to get them second hand as I don't need the accessories or clothing, just the heads, for that reason, condition wasn't so much of an issue either.

So I was really happy to find both for sale in one lot at a really good price, so I snapped them up.

Here's a photo' of Crystal, from her Ebay listing prior to me getting my hands on her, decapitating her and striping her face...

One thing I noticed was that her right arm was bent, not her left so I reasoned I could possibly swap her left one with Pippa's bent left arm, which means I'll be able to keep her body but not have to deal with the pre-posed arms that these dolls come with, and as both have the same size bodies, I'll have two outfits for my new doll while I get around to making her something more fitting to her new look.

Of course having a much bigger head than Peteena, she is not going to be a perfect replica, but you know me, I love big headed dolls...

Now I've just got to find some time to make my vision a reality, wish me luck!

🐰 Littlest Pet Shop Hybrid Doll - My Latest Custom 🐰

I finally got around to getting this little girl together, I've had the idea for this little lady for years but it's crazy hard to not only find the right sized Littlest Pet Shop toy to hybrid but also the right kind of cute faced toy to use.

I've done a few of these funny little hybrids in the past, you may recall my dog, monkey, frog, bunny and panda girl minis and my Pingi the Chicken Lady - large bird faced girl on a Liv doll body.

If not, or you'd like to check them out you can find the posts by clicking on the following links...

So anyway, I managed to get this large flop eared rabbit Littlest Pet Shop pet, I knew she would be absolutely perfect for what I had in mind - something very kitsch looking obviously!

I had the idea it would be easy as I could just use another Liv body for her like I did for Chicken Lady but I failed to take into account her long ears which it turned out obstructed her shoulders so much I had to rethink this option.

After trying out several other jointed bodies (I really wanted her to be as posable as possible) I decided the best type of body would be an Azone one, although its much smaller than a Liv doll's body and more childlike in appearance it seemed a much better choice as it would allow me to dress and redress the doll without having to squeeze the clothing past her ears.

To strip the factory paint and repaint her as I envisaged her I decided it would be easier to remove her ears, this also gave me the ability to paint and seal her ears without worrying about the paint getting onto her face or having to find some way to prop her up while the layers were drying.

Once stripped, repainted and sealed, I reattached her ears and attatched her head it's new body, much Milliput, waiting and super glue later, I finally had her finished.  The beauty of the Milliput and glue method I devised - I have no idea how I managed this, actually allows her head to move from side to side, which adds so much to posing and photographing her.

I found her cute little outfit from a seller / doll clothes maker called spider8lesley on Ebay which suited her perfectly. The outfit is very well made and a perfect fit for her Azone body, if you'd like to check out her other items click on her name for a link to her Ebay page.

Just for funs, here's a before and after of my little girl...

I love how she turned out, she makes me smile every time I look at her!

Meet Pingie...The Chicken Lady - Littlest Pet Shop hybrid Doll

Since I've been unable to post most in recent months I've been keeping myself busy with making myself some new customs and hybrids when time has permitted.

A while back I posted about my Littlest Pet Shop hybrid minis which were really just test pieces until I could get my hands on a large Littlest Pet Shop animal to make myself a "Barbie" sized version...

Sorry for the dodgy image it was the only one I could find :(
Well I finally got my hands on one - not a cute little kitty, puppy or bunny as I had envisioned but living in the U.K it's really not easy to find the larger versions so I had to make do with whatever I could find on Ebay.

About a month ago I found several listed (they seem to come in waves - nothing for months, then 5 or 6 come along at once) so I luckily had quite a good choice of "heads" with which to build my new girl to be.

Ebay listing Photo'

I couldn't resist this little purple penguin when I discovered her for sale as I could imagine her on her human body and how cute she'd look so I placed my bid and waited.

Ebay Listing Photo'

Thankfully I won, but as I hadn't gotten my hopes up and allowed my mind to fully explore how I was going to go about turning her into a 12 inch doll, I really hadn't considered what body I would use for her, I decided the best thing to do would be to wait until she arrived and once I have an idea how heavy that head is I'd have a better idea of what type of body would have a neck strong enough to support it.

See what I mean? Those eyes are just adorable.

I decided to let the body problem wait a while longer as I just couldn't wait to start painting her up with a new "face"!

Several coats later I finally had her looking just right, sealed the paint job and was still raring to go, only now I had to wait for the paint to dry!!

I experimented with Barbie, Pullip and Obitsu bodies but none of them pleased me, one thing I didn't want was for her to have a long neck, my plan was to try to keep her as proportional as possible, well as proportional as she can be with a big giant head!

I lowered her head slightly before securing it onto her neck as I really have a problem with neck length - don't get me started on "Gail Platt's" giraffe features... Seriously just look at that thing,

I can't tell if her shoulders are pushed down or if her neck is elongated, or both - either way, it's too much for my little mind to deal with so I guess I better move swiftly on!

Anyhoo, I guess it's time to show you how she turned out now huh?, so without further ado, here she is...

"Hi"

She's a funny little thing, she tries so hard to be stylish and hip but that big head of hers and those chicken features are just too funny for her to be able to pull it off very well, bless!

I finally settled on a Liv body as it had all the posability that a Obitsu one does, but is heavier so is better placed to carry the weight of her head.

The other reason I went with the Liv body is because it is so much easier to dress them, her clothing size is pretty generic and so she can were most Barbie sized clothes, as for shoes, she fits Monster High and Ever After High perfectly so she gets to have a really cool shoe collection!

Another cool thing about those shoes is that they allow her to stand in her pose by herself.

Also, proportionally she looks pretty good, the bulkier size of the Liv body carries her head size really well.

Now I'm reaching the end of this post, I've finally realised I should probably have taken a "nudie" photograph of her, so you can see that neck of hers and her proportions better, instead of covering it up in that high necked sweater.

Unfortunately, I really don't have much time right now so another time maybe, for now I think I'll just give you a "before and after" recap instead...

I decided against giving her eyes a "little white dot" to indicate light source as I wanted to highly glaze her eyes instead, that way, the light source which shows in her eyes will move depending on it's direction at the time of the photograph, Which in turn gives a more natural feel to them, if natural is an adequate word to describe a human / chicken faced hybrid lady!

That's about it for now, so until the next time, take care,

Ooak Audrey Two - Monster High Pet, Doll's House Miniature.

Ever since I first saw the Little Shop of Horrors 1986 Musical, it's been a firm favourite of mine. I love the 1960 Roger Corman film, but there's just something about the musical version that puts it right up there on my list of all time favourite films.

I love the way the movie makes you forget that you're watching a film and fools you into thinking you're watching it on the stage, the sets are awesome.

Ellen Greene belts out her numbers like no one else could, the costumes on the three schoolgirl 1960's style pop group are gorgeous, but most of all Audrey two is both adorable and monstrous and I'm sure you won't be surprised to learn, one of those toys that never was, but I so wish had of been made!

For years I've been wanting to make myself one but never quite finding the inspiration or suitable materials to do so...

Until Mattel launched their Venus McFlytrap Doll, who came with an adorable little pet called Chewlian and everything about the little guy screamed "Audrey Two" to me.

After I bought a Venus McFlytrap for my collection, I was on the lookout for another Chewlian to turn into an Audrey Two, when I finally got my hands on one, it was full steam ahead.

My Audrey Two

I had to carve off his "fin" , make him some more tendrils and repaint him.

My Audrey Two

I added some "mud" to his pot, and painted the cracks to make it look more beaten up.

My Audrey Two

It was actually pretty easy to do, and took only a couple of minutes to get him looking just right, and so I got the idea that I may soon make one or two more to sell at some time in the future.

My original plan was to make him for Endora's house (which sadly I run out of steam on half way through) but it seems that Pendle has over ideas, she loves the little guy,...

So it looks like I'll end up making yet another so Endora doesn't get jealous, after all, she'll be needing lots of freakish plants and herbs for her Witch's Shop!

╰✿ I've got a Bellyache! ✿╮

I started this post, uploading all the images on 15th May 2015, but for some crazy reason I never got around to writing my intro', talking about the images and generally just showing off... I know I got into playing with the Makies once their photo-shoot was over, so I guess that's why I ended up so sidetracked that I never got back to this post... until now that is!

Bellyache arrived at the same time as both Rainy Daze and Juniper (the limited edition, made for you, Spring Event Makie) to be honest, I was in total Makie Heaven that day, so it's no wonder I ended up playing when I should have been blogging!

So much time has now passed so without further ado, I better get on with it...

Bellyache came in an outfit which included red trainers, but it wasn't until I removed her from her box that I realised that she didn't come wearing them, instead she is bare foot and the trainers were included in a separate package.

This is because they are the kind of shoes that are made to be attached directly to the doll's ankles like a Bratz doll and not over the top of her feet like most other shoes.

Also included is a booklet showing new items available for purchase and a couple of stickers.  I have to admit, I really love the way these dolls are packaged.

The cardboard tube is so sturdy and keeps the doll from being damaged in transit. The inner sleeve - which the doll is secured to is also sturdy and very easy to remove from the outer packaging, you just have to pull it gently upwards.

The doll is secured to this inner card by ribbons, as this is such a gentle way of securing her there are no dents in her clothing or marks across the doll's body, and again it is very easy to remove, you just have to pull one end of the ribbon and the whole thing opens and can be pulled out of every hole at the same time as it is opened.

Once I had her unsecured and removed her hairnet it was time to examine her in more detail. As you can see from the photograph she is a bit confused and looks very concerned about this aspect of her "Welcome to your new home"!

Oh man, I've upset her so much, I think she might burst into tears at any moment. On the plus side, I'm really pleased that the eyes I'd chosen weren't just a plain dull grey and actually have a lot of depth to them, really stand out against her skin tone and her wig is so soft, good quality and easy to style.

After being thoroughly freaked out it was time for Bellyache to meet her new "3D Sisters", thankfully the initial meeting went very well... It turns out Juniper's quite a chatterbox.

Once the initial meet and greet was out the way it was time for the three fairy folks to line up for a comparison photograph. I love how even though I designed each of them with similar features they are all unique.

On the subject of her skin tone, I was very impressed with the coverage of the dye. From my own experiments with dying Makie "skin" I know this isn't such an easy job and can often leave patchy marks which are either darker or lighter than other areas if you don't suss out the knack.

Bellyache's however, is pretty uniform with the only areas where there is a tonal different being the knee, elbow and ankle joints, although it isn't very noticeable.

After begging me to take her hair off, Bellyache wanted to try one of the froggy hats that both Rainy Daze and Pendle have been wearing... I wonder how cool she'd think they are if she found out they are actually crocheted egg warmers?

♥♥ Meet Bellyache Makie! ♥♥

About a week ago I received an email from MakieLabs announcing their Spring Sale, which was supposed to continue until the end of April.

The email informed me that at the moment MakieLabs are having a 25% off sale with Free Shipping to U.K & United States on Makie Dolls!

So it seemed to me that the time was right to order my fourth (third - designed by me) and final Makie...

Bellyache was designed on 5th February 2014 but not made real as there was something a bit off about her so I did some tweaking in the Makie Maker changing her hair and eye colours and deciding on her outfit, and here she is; my redhead, pink skinned girl to be...

I purchased her and a Certificate of Creation at the same time and now all I had to do was wait for her to be "Made Real".

While waiting I received another email saying "The Sale has been extended until Midnight on the 4th May"- so there's still time if you're thinking of a purchase.

In keeping with my other Makie Creations Bellyache is also a pointy eared Fairy Folk. I originally designed her with green eyes and long black hair but when I got-a-tweaking I realised red hair and grey eyes suited her so much better also it gives me a chance to try out "freckles" while I'm giving her a face up.

In case you're wondering the reason I've decided that Bellyache will be my last Makie is because the Makie Maker doesn't have that much choice wise in terms of outfits, wigs or eye colours and as I've created twenty six Makies since 2013 I feel like I've pretty much gone as far as I can with the options available.

There have also been a lot of changes with regards to ability to mix and match individual items of clothing and footwear to make your own unique styles for your dolls sadly though this option went out with the "Alpha Makies" as did some of the extra skin tone options that used to be available .

The clothing options now are very sparse and are matched with a pair of shoes so if you don't like a particular item then you either have to lump it in order to have the items you do like or get rid of it and find a completely different item for your doll.

The wig choices are also not so great, I prefer the long ones which out of thirty eight wigs gives a choice of sixteen.

As I'm also not keen on wigs with fringes, this gives me a total of ten to choose from!

Ten doesn't seem such a bad amount but when you rule out the black, blonde and brown wigs that I find kind of boring and also available to buy in many places online, it leaves six to choose from.

The choice between them obviously has to take into account the doll's skin tone - of which there are now only four - white, pink, dark and light brown.

Since Pendle is white skinned, Rainy Daze is dark cocoa and Juniper is light cocoa bean, having Bellyache made real n the pink skin tone means I will now have one in each of the colour variations.

In terms of eye colours their have ever only  been a choice of  six to choose from.

As Pendle was going to be my one and only Makie Doll and is Fairy Folk I chose black eyes for her.

I chose brown for Rainy Daze and Juniper came with a black pair too, of course these are simple enough to change and I do have plenty of spares here but I really would have appreciated some more "funky" colours to choose from as opposed to colours that are available cheaply and very easily found elsewhere online.

I guess grey eyes are also easy enough to find but not as easy as the other colours minus the black of course but since I now have two pairs of them I felt it was a choice between the others and none of the other colours really worked for me.

Like Rainy Daze she will most likely end up with a pair of new glass ones instead.

I guess that's about all I have to say until she arrives and I can do a Makie Maker vs Made Real comparison post.

Take care,
