♡♡♡ Yay ... Alice is finally finished! ♡♡♡

Alice is a Series 1, Little Big Eyes Doll from 2001 who was sent to me in my "birthday goodies Box" by my Dolly Friend Donna a couple of years back (pic's are up in older posts), she had a broken leg, which I did a step by step post while fixing a few months back, if you'd like to see the before pic's, you can find them in my "Doll and Toy Restorations" section...

After I fixed her leg back on, removed her eyebrows, then I sanded and matted her face, gave her new eyelid make up, eyelashes a new "face up" and home made eye chips.

Then I made her outfit (that look the longest time, as I wasn't able to spend time just doing that and it's all hand sewn...so all in all she's taken a couple of years... with the added bonus that I lost one of the sleeves I'd pre-made for her and had to make another, so it slowed me down... but I was determined to finish her last night and I did "Hurrah"!

I also made a little heart patterned apron to go over the top of this outfit, which matched her "bunny hat" but after I'd finished the final sleeve and dressed her, I placed it on top and it looked way too much so, she's not going to be wearing it and now I have a "Blythe / Big Eyes" apron for someone else!

I bought flat chips and cut out the eye decals to go inside each of them...

Her dress is made in two parts - a short over dress with a long red trimmed skirt underneath - out of plain black poly cotton, decorated with lace trims.

Under her dress she has black and red stripped tights and a pair of very cool black and red "punky style" boots with chains...

Her "Bunny hat" is Loita style, made of black poly cotton on top and white, with red hearts pattern lining made of poly cotton, decorated with black lace and tied onto her head with thin black lace.

Her "Cameo brooch" was made from a tiny button and is set against her black lace collar.

Alice is the first "Big Eye (colour change type" Doll I've customised from start to finish... the reason I did so is because she came to me broken and I already have the same doll - boxed, so I felt she would be good practice for me and not such a hardship if I happened to mess up, as it was I didn't and I'm very happy with how she's turned out!

                           ********** More on Alice - 05 / 02 / 2013 ***********

Having just flicked through some photo's of Alice I took the day I received her and started work on her restoration - I'm even more pleased with the results as I can't help but find it so hard to believe that she is the same doll - even though I obviously know she is!

She went from - Undressed for "Damage Assessment"

To - Eyebrows and eye chips removed and body parts dismantled  for repairs...

Next came - Reassembly (with newly attached working leg) - ready for  make up removal, new "home made" eye chips, new lashes, lip carving,  sanding, matting, "Face Up", sealing and a hand sewn outfit.

And finally, she became a Butterfly!

This is the L.B.E Donna sent me with the dodgy leg...The leg is now fixed in place and works fine (she can sit or stand and her knees click and hold too...wooot)

The eye chips were removed and swapped with my other First Series L.B.E and Alice was left with very light coloured ones with pupils that hardly showed up...so I took the chips out and started changing the depth of colour etc.

Ok so I finally got done with all her eye chips...now just the make up, hair and dress to do!!

* Keep checking back 'cos I'll be adding to this folder as time goes on!

Alice with Fixed Leg!

Empty Eyed Alice!

The Pink Eye Chips Get a Make Over!
On the left is the one I just finished painting...the one on the right shows how washed out the original colour looked.

Orange Eye Chips Get A Make Over!
The orange eye chips were customized by adding a skull pic' to the pupil and aluminium foil to iris to give glitter effect - customized one on right.

Blue Eye Chips Get a Make Over!
One on left is the original colour!

Green Eye Chis Make Over!
As you can see from the one on the left, the iris & pupil colour is pretty dull...

Right: Pupil blackened and enlarged, glitter effect added to green to bring out colour!

Eye Lids Get Make Up!!
hmmm....not sure if I'm keeping them pink yet!

Started Undercoating on lips and eye make up.
Her lips are shaped differently at one side so this is going to be a bit awkward!

Alice has now got Blue eyes!

Pink Eyes!

Alice's new Sparkly Green eyes!

Brown Eyes with Skull pupils
These are my fav's but then again so are all the others!

Little Big Eyes .... From Donna ... Restoration Begins ... woot!!

I already had a L.B.E with this colour hair but have been regretting removing her eyebrows to "Blythe her up" ever since I did it :( As she is a Series 1 and they are crazy to get hold of...I should know had a devil of a time winning my two :( (I have one from series 1 and one from series 2!)

Loads get bought up to be "Blythed" so to find them in original clothing, boxes and all intact is pretty rare!

When this little lady arrived with broken leg but perfect eyebrows I know just what to do...Take mine out of the box and exchange faces lol

Then use this one (after fixing leg) as a practice doll for a full customisation!

I'm thinking Alice In Wonderland with Punk Pink Hair wooot!!

Naked to access damage to leg

To take off the face you first have to remove the hair.
Oh and on Series 1 the cap too... oddly series 2 do not have this cap!

Ok hair's gone now's time to pop that cap...wish me luck :-S

Yay that wasn't too hard!
Now to remove the screws and pop open the head...and make sure I collect up all the bits of the eye mechanism!!

Oooo Faceless!
My trusty scapel comes in handy again!

Ok so If I'm going to fix that leg I need to take the body apart as well!
Oops snapped the other leg lol never mind have plenty of cement to fix it up!!

Right what's next?
Oh I know unpack other L.B.E and make her watch!

:( No Eyebrows...Bad Herbie!

It really shows too :(
Removed her hair...but where is her Cap?? hmmm curious!

Ok you ready girl?...Deep Breath!

All done and back in box!
I realised the eyes on the new one were much nicer as they have better defined pupils so I swapped them over too!

Hmmm well seeing as she has now got weak coloured eyes I'm gonna give them some colour too!
First thing I have to do is remove the eye chips to have a better look at them!

Glue legs back into hips...
Test they will still work...sorted *grin*

Put body back together, put eye chips and head cap safe!

Put eyes back in head and screw up!
Awww noo kinda sad looking still I now have a clean canvas to make Alice with!!
Stay Tuned, more Custom work coming soon on this little girl...

Birthday Gifts from Friends on Dolls More Dolls - 12th June 2009 - Gifts From Donna

Lol so after another night of no sleep I was just about to when I hear the postman a knocking on my door...open it up and some good things happened!

My Lil' Kiddie arrived....The Fabric to finish Loopy-Looby came and Wow This big box with HERBIE written on it and I'm thinking must be one of my dolly friends only...I'm not expecting anything...open it up and Oh MY!!

More pictures going up soon so you can see what I've been doing today with this little lot! woot!

Lot's of People to play with!

The unpacking begins!
Cute little Black doll with milky eyes....hmmm should be able to do something with her...oh wait what's this?

Oooo another little doll...never mind I can find him an arm!

Ohh Wow a Little Big Eyes too Yay!

With a note from Donna...sorry it's taken so long?  Hey I'm not complaining girl lol I forgot you even mentioned it lol...

And Wow What's this tucked away at the bottom of the box??
Ohhh WOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!

It's only A Bratz Doll I've been wanting for ever!!

And yay a Mint in Box with everything included one too!!!

Thank you so much Donna....How did you know? lol I don't remember saying I was after one of these (been outbid on so many I'd given up!) But Yay Donna to the rescue! woot

Even the Back of the Box is cool!!

For some reason he reminds me of Larry The Lamb!
He's gonna have a replacement arm as soon as I go rooting around my "Victims" box lol I'm sure I have a few arms in there!!    He's gonna be a kitsch little lamby *Grin*
She scares me! lol
Donna thinks she may be quite pretty with new hair, a repaint and some new eyebrows...  I have to say I agree, the hair definitely needs replacement and the eyebrows are daft but I'm not sure what I can do about  her hare-lip though??

Funny looking thing lol I'm gonna have to wait a little while for her to tell me what she should be I guess lol

Her hair looks like a disgruntled factory worker looked at it, wanted to add more but then thought meh forget it, they aren't paying me enough!!

She'll be fun..when I get some inspiration, I'm sure.
