✿❀ Meet my new girl - Violka by Orange Tea Dolls. ❀✿

Hello all,

As promised I'm making a start on sharing the many things I have to tell you about, and what better way to begin than telling you about my new girl ... Violet?!

She arrived this morning and as I didn't wake up until 6pm (I know, it's bad but I'm still not well) I haven't gotten around to charging batteries and taking photographs of the delectable little damsel so for now you'll have to make do with some Sales pictures instead..

I first spotted these dolls a few months back on one of my many "nosing around the web" escapades and had no idea what they were called or where to buy one.

After months of fruitless searching I gave up the dream, even after finding out the name I still couldn't find a sales page or site so that was that and they went back onto my list of unattainable wants...

Until last week when I was innocently hanging out on Ebay looking for a new cage for Snuffkin my Degu and oh my ... look who I found!

Photo from Ebay Seller blossom2001.

Not having quite enough in my bank account at the time to purchase her (she was on Buy it Now) and noticing that 19 other people were also watching her, I didn't like my chances ...

The listing ended and I thought that was that, until several days later she was relisted, but I still had a week or so to wait before money was paid into my account and again I was one of 20 or so "watchers" ...

So what to do?

I tried to forget about her and delete the listing from my Watch List, but she had me so enthralled I just couldn't do it!

Then I had an idea... I mailed the seller and asked if I could secure her with Buy it Now and pay when the money entered my bank in the week... well if you don't ask!

Anyway, it turned out Heather is awesome and had no problem with my doing so, even better I got paid early so two days later she was officially mine, now I just had to wait for the weekend to pass and for her to arrive!

As we began mailing back and forth over the last few days,  I mentioned that I was sure that I'd seen the top image on Flickr entitled "Does my bum look big in this?" it turns out I had, one of the Orange Tea Dolls I'd been coveting was the same one I would be holding in my hands in a matter of days!

How cool is that?!

... And now she's here and all mine "Mauhaha!"

Photo from Ebay Seller blossom2001.

Anyhoo, so by now you'll be wanting to know all sorts of things about these dolls but first I have to tell you a strange little story ... I named my girl Violet Blue, Violet for short.

Before I'd even secured her a weird thing kept happening to me, looking at the listing photographs the name kept coming into my head, I've always loved the name Violet, it was my Nan's name, but I've never thought to use it as a doll name until now, and I couldn't help wondering why...

After I secured her I kept thinking about this and thinking "What is it about this doll that makes me think that?"

So on a whim I tried a translator for the word "Violka" and discovered that the word "Violka" is Czechoslovakian for "Violet"!!

Well as you must have noticed by now that she's a quirky looking little thing with a very full "Mother Earth" figure that puts my college's Life Drawing Models to shame (sorry Rose & Mary) and I'm sure you're itching to know more about the dolls themselves and see some more pic's so I won't disappoint..

While on Flickr I discovered the Orange Tea Dolls Pool, and that led me to the Maker's Web Site and Etsy Shop (where I found these photo's), so here's what I've found out...

https://www.etsy.com/shop/OrangeTeaDolls

There are two skin tones you can buy them in at present, actually there is three but I think that the Chocolate skinned version must have been a limited edition.

The Fair skin option is the same skin tone as Violet, the Light Tan skin tone is shown above, and Chocolate skin tone is shown in the photo' below.

There are two options available:

Violka Fair Skin basic (nude doll - no make up, eyes or wig) which costs £ 152. 09

Violka Light Tan basic ( nude doll - no make up, eyes or wig) priced at £ 167. 30.

As the seller lives in Germany the postage for each is £10. 65 ( Certified & with Insurance) and takes around a week to arrive.

The  Orange Tea Doll Etsy Shop can be found here: Orange Tea Dolls
https://www.etsy.com/shop/OrangeTeaDolls

If I'd have known where to buy them I would most likely have opted for the Light Tan version, but since I didn't at the time and since meeting Violet I'm stupidly happy with her just as she is!

https://www.etsy.com/shop/OrangeTeaDolls

The dolls are made of resin and stand at 19 cm tall ( 7.48 inches).
They have 10 points of articulation.

Their head is 6 inches, so wig buying isn't much of a problem, although I've purchased some lavender Wensleydale wool for Violet's wig and they take 12mm eyes, again a pretty easy find.

And they come in a orange box, all snuggled up in bubble wrap inside the funky flower patterned sleeping bag that you can see in the first photo.

https://www.etsy.com/shop/OrangeTeaDolls

The only foreseeable problem is finding ready made clothes to fit over that "Big giant ass" and her teeny feet!!

During today's fashion show I discovered that the Hujoo baby shoes sold by Mimiwoo (have I ever mentioned that I love Mimiwoo?!) fit her perfectly, so finding her some cute footsie wear is really no problem at all either!

If you are interested you can find 4 pages of adorable boots and shoes that will fit your Violka and Middie Blythe too, here: Hujoo baby, Violka & Middie Blythe Footwear.

On the seller's website / blog I discovered this photograph of the doll with her dimensions listed which is an absolute boon for someone like me who wants to make doll clothes but is sometimes a bit dodgy with measuring - don't ask me how, I measure ok but then I get derpy!

http://www.orangeteadolls.net/

Anyhoo, what's even better, I discovered while nosing about on her Flickr Pool is that she has made and uploaded sewing patterns for underwear, a bikini, two dresses, a skirt, tights and a coat to her web site so as soon as my Mum gives me the print outs I requested I can be on my way sewing Violet a whole new wardrobe, which I'm sure she will happily model for you all!

Hugs,

♥¸¸.•* Rot's New Face! ¸¸.•*♥

Well Rot's arrived at his new home and has just got the first part of his face up, I'll be finishing him off soon but decided to wait a few days - I tend to do this a lot with my face ups; I feel it gives me time to get to know my new doll and his or her personality which I then attempt to bring out in round two of the face up...

So here he is so far,  I've already decided on some of his tweaks but I'm going to wait at least a week before I do them as I have several other face ups waiting at the moment.

I stupidly forgot to take "before" photographs as I was far too excited to even think about doing so prior to starting - dur!

He came with a pair of acrylic half round eyes, but I really didn't think they brought out his personality very well and as I go through phases of buying both acrylic and glass, half and full round eyes of various sizes and patterns, I always have plenty to choose from when doing my doll customs.

While hunting through my "Eye Drawers" I found two pairs of full round blue glass eyes which were a perfect fit for this little man, one pair were slightly more realistic but I felt these light blue ones really "popped" as they oddly make his face look more alive.

I really love the contrast between them and his skin tone, so light blue it is!

I still have to give more definition on his teeth , claws and spikes but these will be the finishing details... I want to bring his scaly bits out a bit first but I'm not sure if these will be a different colour to the rest of him or not... Oh decisions!

Anyhoo, I'll update once I've decided and have finished him.

Hugs,

♥.•:*¨*:•.♥ Pipos Cheshire Cat Resin BJD ♥.•:*¨*:•.♥

Regular readers of my blog will know I have a thing about "Anthro" dolls and if you've read some of my earlier posts you'll be aware that one doll I've always coveted is the Cheshire Cat doll by Piposland.

As I've previously mentioned, I have recently come into a bit of money and have decided to spend some of it on dolls I wouldn't be able to afford otherwise, of course there was no way I could let the opportunity go by to get my hands on one of these gorgeous little personages!

Pipos Cheshire originally came in two skin tones - White and Grey, but have since added two more colours - Minty Star and Orange Star.

Here's the size details, as listed on the Pipos website:

Height: 21cm ( including ear length )
Head circumference: 17.5cm
Neck circumference : 5.8cm
Shoulder Width : 4.5cm
Arm length : 8cm
Length from the shoulder to the wrist : 5.8cm
Back length : 4.8cm
Chest: 10cm
Waist circumference: 10.8cm
Hip circumference: 12.8cm
Leg length: 8cm
From waist to ankle: 8.2cm
Foot size: 3cm
Pipos comes with a choice of tail and they both have different measurements :

Style A:
Length : 7.4cm
Girth 3.3cm

Style B:
 Length : 9.2cm
Girth: 8cm

Style A is a fully articulated and extremely poseable tail while Style B is a bushy tail, similar to a fox tail and is articulated only at the base giving a lot less poseability but also has it's merits.

The "Basic Edition" of Pipos Cheshire is still available from piposland.com and is available in Baby Yellow, Cherry Blossom or Grey skin tones, comes with either or both tail versions, face up or non face up, a certificate and a pair of 16mm Glass Eyes in a randomly chosen colour.

I just love these crazy looking cats, and can't wait until he arrives. We are going to have such fun and maybe a tea party or two! :3

☞ ※ Aileen Doll Rot ( Ver.2 ) Pink Dragon Doll ※ ☜

Did I mention that I recently came into a bit of money recently?

Well, I decided I'd treat myself to a couple of dolls I would never have been able to afford otherwise, one of which is the adorable anthro Dragon doll by Aileen Dolls...

Aileen Doll Rot ( Ver.2 ) Pink Dragon Anthro Doll

Rot stands at 12cm high and takes size 16mm to 18mm eyes.

The site says: "You can separate the Rot horns." which I assume means they are detachable, I don't quite get why they would be though, but I guess I'll find out when he arrives!

The listing also states "The Dragon Rot is not compatible with Pet doll body." My guess is this is due to his neck joint, although I'll have to wait to see if this is the case, not that I have a spare Pet doll body!

Also, I'm unsure why anyone would want to rebody him - his dumpy little arms and legs and pot belly are adorable!!

Another thing the listing mentions is that his head and wings "is assembled by tension cord". I have to admit I love the idea that his little wings are also poseable in this way and am really looking forward to trying them out!

You can buy him with or without a face up - I always buy mine without as I like to have the fun of doing my own and watching my little ones "come to life", I know it sounds weird but it's also a kind of bonding process, I tend to enjoy them more if I've been responsible for their looks...

He's already on his way to me but as he has such dumpy little wings, it's going to take him at least two weeks to fly here, I hope he doesn't make too many rest stops 'cos I'm  stupidly excited to met him. :3

•.-:¦:-•* Fairyland Realpuki Soso Soom 1/4 Resin BJD *•-:¦:-•

I'm so excited, I just can't wait to show off my new baby to be!

I've told you before about those nice friends of my Mum's who always send me money at Christmas and for my birthday and how I convert it into dolls I could never hope to own without that extra cash... well this year they sent me enough money for Christmas for me to order an adorable little creature who's been on my wishlist for years - yay!

At present my baby is still in the "processing stage" but I just can't wait for the "shipping stage" to share my good news, and so I bring you sale photos of my new little (very little) one...

RealPuki Soso Soom from Fairyland...

He's available in either two options of face plate - Open eye or closed eyes or the "deluxe" version which comes with both; and a much higher price tag!

As I could only think of a few instances where a "sleepy" face Soso would be of benefit to me, I went for the open eyed version, however since seeing this photo by Marlene on Flickr, I've fallen in love with the closed eye version now too, or at the very least, this little guy; he's just too adorable!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/73131015@N00/6264349788/in/photostream/

My Soso is also a little boy, Son of Pendle Makie who's just as impatient for him to arrive as I am!

Still I guess it gives me time to sort out some outfits and little items for his house... did I say he already has a house?

It's an old Matchbox boot from when I was little, and he also has a shiny new Noddy car waiting for him to drive too, now he just needs some hats, trousers, boots and loads of other things I keep thinking of!

Mudwamp Mac Feegle's House.

Anyhoo, enough wittering here's a bit about the dolls themselves and what they are capable of pose wise...

Soso stands at 3.74 inches ( 9.49 cm) tall, they have changeable faceplates, magnetic hands and feet which add to their overall poseability and ability to hold objects without it looking a little kooky (think Barbie's microphones etc. looks weird right?!).

DollFairyland.com
Their hands and feet are removable and have magnets in them, so they can be easily swapped for Doll Fairyland shoes, differently posed hands, faceplates and items from Pukipuki Dolls as some of these fit them without looking too oversized.

DollFairyland.com
The faceplate too is of course removable and also contains a magnet to help it stay in place. The face plates can also be swapped with Pukipuki and some of Pukipuki's "magic items" can also be used with Realpuki. However due to the scale difference between the two dolls swapping a Realpuki's faceplate onto a  Pukipuki may make your doll look a little odd!

DollFairyland.com
Just look at the detail on his little bumbum!

DollFairyland.com
Shoes are available separately from CP/ Fairyland and come in a variety of styles for $12.00 each and come in either Natural or White shades, except for the skates white come in white only and cost $14.00. For convenience I've added page links under each photo...

There was absolutely no way I could resist these little cuties with their worn out toe and cute little peepage going on!

DollFairyland.com
To place the shoes on you have to first remove the feet. The shoes have magnets so they just snap on and stay put, make sure you put the feet in a safe place though - those babies are tiny!

DollFairyland.com
The above photos show Realpuki wearing PukiPuki hands (Magic Items).

DollFairyland.com
They have 3 points of articulation in the torso region, which again makes for added realism when posing.

DollFairyland.com
There are two points of articulation in the neck, Four in the arms and four in the legs, coupled with the three points of articulation in the torso, this makes for extremely realistic and varied poseability.

DollFairyland.com
The  measurements in the chart below are written in centimetres, for clarification I've written them below as parts of it, such as in the arms may be a little confusing as due to the size of them the measurements are grouped closely together:

www.flickr.com/photos/ulanna/6055835518/in/photostream/

Height 9.7cm
Head circumference 9.1cm
Neck circumference 1.8cm
Shoulder Width 2.3cm
Shoulder to Wrist 2.6cm
Elbow to Wrist 1.1cm
Length of Back 2.3cm
Chest circumference 4.9cm
Waist circumference 4.8cm
Hip circumference 5.9cm
Hip to Knee 1.9cm
Thigh Circumference 3.2cm
Knee to Ankle 1.6cm
Ankle circumference 1.8cm
Feet 1.7cm

Realpuki take size 10mm eyes, however, if you like your dolls to have eyes which display a more natural amount of white instead of displaying mostly pupil, it would be better to go for 6mm eyes.

It's taken me so long to finish writing this post *sigh* that my SoSo Soom have already moved in - Yay!

So you'll be seeing photo's of my little guy "Mudwamp" soon, once I've finished giving him his "faceup" and making him a few more little outfits...
